As we go on in the Christian life it gets simpler, because we are less inclined to say - Now why did God allow this and that? Behind the whole thing lies the compelling of God. "There's a divinity that shapes our ends." A Christian is one who trusts the wits and the wisdom of God, and not his own wits. If we have a purpose of our own, it destroys the simplicity and the leisureliness which ought to characterize the children of God.”Richhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12630150578438657112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8120369.post-51254331705954503582009-08-05T06:57:06.278-04:002009-08-05T06:57:06.278-04:00Elizabeth,

God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven."Richhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12630150578438657112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8120369.post-83656572997227379482009-08-05T03:12:06.506-04:002009-08-05T03:12:06.506-04:00Excellent post, really truly excellent. And it probably does not matter whether or not we know. I stumble into and through things that seem to have been put in my path for some seemingly divine purpose and what I get through them (usually situations where people I do not know all that well or sometimes at all need help that I have no idea how to give but the resources just show up on cue from all kinds of unexpected places), I am not even sure when I have been. But it's all okay. I feel the love of God in my life, so stumbling along in whatever direction I am nudged works fine for me. If God wanted me to do more than stumble, He would hold my hand more firmly, so I assume there is a purpose to the stumbling even.Elizabeth Mahlouhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00334700057953625321noreply@blogger.com
