The Allure Of Rules

Why wouldn’t hidden but subtly disguised rules be an alluring attraction to us when resident in our flesh undetected, lies the father of religion and lies, the same one disguising himself before Adam and Eve to take a bite out of his tasty alluring tidbit, to become like God, unless of course the wonder and beauty of this irresistible Christ in us is there, but not recognized. There must be some pretty strong magic altering our minds within these poor substitutes. Isn’t that some of the alarm and concern Paul voiced over some believers, “Will you put up with a little foolish aside from me? Please, just for a moment. The thing that has me so upset is that I care about you so much—this is the passion of God burning inside me! I promised your hand in marriage to Christ, presented you as a pure virgin to her husband. And now I'm afraid that exactly as the Snake seduced Eve with his smooth patter, you are being lured away from the simple purity of your love for Christ.”

There is no contest to this, Jesus has never and will never be in a pout over the hucksters peddling their make belief wares, in fact, he is allowing it all to happen, why, so that there is right in front of us an opportunity to see that we do have a free willed choice, life, or death!

Why do bad things happen to “good people,” so that we will have the privilege of actually having the ability to freely choose, death, or Him, in the face of some very nasty life altering circumstances and situations? The Father has no intentions of bringing down the visible exterior expressions of what we refer to as religion and its institutions, but if permitted, he will in fact set us free from the inside where all of this other crap is birthed from. Without there being presented us one of two ways to go, please, do not say we have made a choice.

No matter how alluring and attractive the outer showings of being ‘like God’ become, when He is detected in the life of one of His, there will be no need for any Jesus impersonation.

maybe it is because we think it all seems too easy, so of course we have to be religious and try to earn all of this!

p.s. i totally missed you on the weekend!

Laurie,

Yeah, sorry that didn't work out, not being able to see you. It was a most wonder-filled time for me, I am still drawing deeply from so much Father made real to me by being there!

The innate inclination to BE religious is imo because of the father of religion being in all flesh..this is a very difficult pill to swallow for most of us, none the less it is the truth.

As much the truth as Christ is in us the hope of glory, it no longer being I, but Christ.

Without availing ourselves of the same grace that perfectly united us with God our father in our spirit, the needed transformation of our soul is requiring that same grace.

He is wanting us to fully grow up into ALL that is already ours!!

Laurie,

Re: what you said here with some further thoughts, "maybe it is because we think it all seems too easy, so of course we have to be religious and try to earn all of this!"

The Garden thang where Eve is taking a bite out of the 'gift' being offered to her by the serpent, I do not see it being Eve's intention to doing anything remotely evil, in fact I see her trying to avoid evil and to do good..but in fact, isn't that the appeal to any of us, to Be more God -Christ like?

I agree, I dont think it was her intention to be doing something evil. But do we view religion, or even this thing of 'excessive service' as being evil. No because we think we are doing what we are supposed to be doing.

Yes, I believe there is something of a war being waged with in us. We definitely want the freedom of Christ, but we think it comes with a much greater cost. It is so hard for us to accept a gift without price and without cost to us.

And I dont think bad things only happen to good people, I think they just happen. And as I have written before, we can view it as an opportunity to know Him more...or we can view it as a circumstance which we have to survive. Either way, we are presented with choices at every turn.

Laurie,

Adam and Eve admired God’s goodness and desired to generate and exude that same quality. It was their wanting to author their own system of right and wrong so they could make sure they did right and avoided wrong. We can equally find ourselves pursuing the knowledge of good instead of listening to our yearning for an increased intimate relationship with Christ Jesus!

I have always loved what Oz Chambers has said, “The good, is always the enemy of the best.”

Who told or tells us we’re naked, regarding what we’re doing or supposed to be doing? Perhaps the father of lies and religion simply because he continues to speak to us disguised as our thoughts..hmmm?

Absolutely! Just because it sounds rational we tend to want to listen to it. But you know rationality is the enemy of faith. And I would rather be found in faith over what 'seems right' any day!!!
