God, What Stinks?

I love how Jesus never pointed out how bad the religious dudes were, but he DID SAY, its the leaven of these guys, watch out for that, cause it Stinks!

This is wonderful from the Message Bible...
'Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life. But those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse.'

And this from the Amplified.....
For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which exhales] unto God, [discernible alike] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing: To the latter it is an aroma [wafted] from death to death [a fatal odor, the smell of doom]; to the former it is an aroma from life to life [a vital fragrance, living and fresh]. And who is qualified (fit and sufficient) for these things? [Who is able for such a ministry? We?]

I was thinking how they add a component (a chemical-mercaptan) to natural gas that gives a distinct, odor, aka, a stink.

I'm greatful He is awakening who so ever will, from the stench of death. Thing is, until He came to be here to be with us, we could not smell-detect anything wrong with this whole sin/death thing.

I may not have this right in my illustration yet, but what I think I'm seeing is this..when the Word became 'flesh', it was as if the Father injected this additive in and through Jesus the Word ( as it were kind of a spiritual mercaptan) becoming flesh, it was and is being used to bring us to an initial place of sobriety?

Those that are His say, "What a lovely aroma," Where those that don't know Him say, "What the hell is that smell?"

Without that additive put into natural gas, being exposed to it can cause us to die from the fumes, not to mention the explosive and destructive power of it as well.

Thank you Father that you are and will continue to awaken those that are asleep.
